Dr. Sarah Sung was born and raised in Russell, Manitoba. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Microbiology at the University of Manitoba in 2011. She went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree and graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo in 2015. Dr. Sung’s optometric training included primary care rotations in Winnipeg and Red Deer, as well as an externship at the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Affairs Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she focused primarily on managing ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Dr. Sung has also had the opportunity to travel to Nicaragua as a part of the Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity (VOSH) organization, providing eye exams and eyeglasses to underprivileged communities. For her, it was an eye-opening experience, and one that she hopes to repeat in the future on additional eye-care missions. In her spare time, Dr. Sung loves hiking, traveling, and exploring new places. She is also a winter sports enthusiast with a passion for snowboarding. She is very excited to be a part of this innovative clinic and looks forward to serving the community of Stonewall and Selkirk.
